What happens when your best affiliate doesn't know what to say

Hey Reader,

Junior year of high school, I had two teachers who could not have been more different.

Mrs. Terry taught AP US History. She's the reason I still love history.

Mr. Calvert taught civics.

He used to sit at the front of the room stapling things into his own forearm.

I'm NOT joking... he's the reason... well, let's just say he should be thankful for teachers' unions.

His idea of teaching was telling us which chapter to read.

Years later, an affiliate program sent me swipe copy for a promotion.

Right in the middle of it: "[Talk about your favorite teacher here]."

So I did.

Mrs. Terry got the credit she deserved.

Mr. Calvert got dragged.

My subject line: "Don't be a Calvert."

Every other affiliate promoting that same product got that exact same swipe copy.

Not one of them could have written that email.

That's what this week's episode: how to build swipe copy that works like that for your own affiliates.

Listen to this week's episode here!

Best regards,
Matt

P.S. Somewhere out there, Mr. Calvert is probably still wasting the next generation's time and stapling things into his forearm. Go listen before you write your next round of swipe copy.
